WOMEN OF THE MOOSE STATE TOURNAMENT RULES PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

  1. All entrants must be a member of the WOTM residing in the state of Michigan or a WOTM member from another state but must reside in Michigan or hold a membership in Home Chapter from Mooseheart.

  2. Doubles and Singles will be bowled on Sunday and Team on Saturday. Check-in time for doubles (as scheduled) is l hour before bowling doubles. Each bowler must show her current paid-up dues receipt in the WOTM and her current U.S.B.C. card. If bowler has no U.S.B.C. card for the current bowling year, bowler will pay the bowling center's going rate for U.S.B.C. card. Check-in on Sunday for team event is 30 minutes before bowling. Captains check in on Sunday only.

  3. Entrants must use their previous year highest average based on a minimum of21 games or more, ifno previous average a bowler may use her current season average based on 21 games at the time of bowling, if no average then bowler will bowl with a 150 average. Handicap will be 80% of 210 scratch. Entrants in Doubles Event must also enter Singles and Vice-versa. You must bowl in the same order as listed on the entry form. No rearranging of partners will be permitted. All bowlers shall participate in one event each, except Hostess Chapter.

  4. If making a substitution, it must be done at least one hour prior to bowling. Subs shall be allowed in each event. A sub in any event shall take the place in the line-up of the bowler she is replacing. The team captain must provide the average of the sub by a signed affidavit to verify the highest average. The hostess chapter will provide subs for Team and Doubles Events, providing she is not already bowling in the tournament. All entries submitted with less than 4 (legal line-up) for team will not be accepted.

  5. All entrants must sign a Waiver and Consent form at time of check-in.

  6. An entrant arriving late will be permitted to bowl with her score to count beginning with the frame being bowled. If an entrant is late for the Doubles Event, the entrant present shall bowl her singles first. If a sub cannot be found, the entrant present shall be permitted to bowl her games in the Doubles Event without a partner, in order for her score to count in all events.

  7. No entry money will be refunded after entries are received with the exception of overpayments.

  8. Captains and individuals are requested to give home address where mail will receive immediate attention.

  9. Prize money will be awarded as stated in USBC Tournament Rule 309c.

  10. It is requested that all entrants wear suitable attire when bowling. NO short shorts, halters or skirts above mid-thing. NO FLASH pictures taken during bowling!

  11. It shall be each bowler's responsibility to verify the accuracy of her average, whether originally submitted by the bowler or the team captain or others. Failure to use the correct average shall disqualify score if submitted average is lower than correct average there by resulting in a lower classification or more handicap. Prize winnings shall be based on the submitted averages if it is higher than the correct average. However, corrections in averages may be permitted up to the completion of the first game of a series.

  12. Claims for errors in scoring must be made within 24 hours after bowling. Entries close: Reserved entries April 5, 2024; all others by April 19, 2024. Entries received after due date will not be accepted and will be returned.

  13. Tournament Rule 319a. Item 2, provision rule 319d and rule319c from the U.S.B.C rulebook have been waived for this event

  14. Any chapter wishing to bid for a tournament must follow these rules:

  • When submitting a bid in 2024, it would be for the 2025 or 2026 -year tournament.

  • Please provide the Event Chairman's full name, address. phone number and email address

  • All bids must be received no later than April 06, 2024, and copies must be mailed to the Carolyn Michalak at 8037 Westlake Tavlor, MI 48180. Or emailed to caroiynmichalak@yahoo.com . If bids are late they will not be considered, pursuant to Rule No. 14.

  • If more than one bid is received for a given year, voting will take place at the tournament, the day of the team event, and the Team Captains will do voting only. If only one valid bid is received, the Tournament will automatically be awarded to that bidder. IF NO BIDS ARE RECEIVED, THE MICHIGAN STATE SPORTS CHAIRMAN SHALL SELECT A SITE FOR THE TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD THAT PARTICULAR YEAR.

  • The Chapter placing a bid must have at least one team participating in the current year's tournament following bids must be over the signatures of the current Boards of Officers (LOOM and WOTM) stating the desire for their Chapter to host such an event, and attached to the bid letters, will be a letter from the bowling proprietor stating it would be willing to have the tournament on the dates specified, including the cost of bowling per line, and that the bowling center has a maximum of 24-36 lanes. All bids must contain a list of motels and restaurants in the area together with a map showing the locations of these places.
